Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 2, 2026

ToneVault respects your privacy. We collect the minimum information necessary to operate the site, and we don't sell or trade personal data. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

What we collect

When you visit ToneVault, our servers automatically record standard request information: your IP address, the date and time of the request, the page you accessed, the referring URL, and basic information about your browser and operating system. This is the same information almost every web server records by default, and we use it to monitor site performance, detect abuse, and produce aggregated statistics about traffic patterns.

We do not require an account to use ToneVault. There is no login, no profile, no saved preferences — and therefore no personal information beyond what's described above.

Cookies and similar technologies

ToneVault uses a very small number of cookies, all of them functional rather than tracking-oriented. Specifically, we may set a cookie to remember whether you've dismissed our cookie notice, and to maintain consistent display preferences across page loads.

If you've enabled advertising on ToneVault (we use Google AdSense to support the cost of hosting), the ad service will set its own cookies to serve and measure ads. You can opt out of personalized advertising at any time via Google's Ads Settings page or by enabling your browser's “Do Not Track” signal.

Analytics

We use a privacy-respecting analytics service to understand which pages of ToneVault are most useful and where to invest our time. The analytics service we use does not store personally identifying information, does not set persistent identifiers in your browser, and does not share data with third parties. It produces aggregate reports only — total page views per article, popular search terms, that sort of thing.

Audio files and embeds

The audio previews on ringtone detail pages are served via embedded players from our source partner, the Internet Archive. When you load a ringtone page, your browser may make a request to archive.org to load the audio player. The Internet Archive maintains its own privacy policy, available on their site, which governs that interaction.

Third parties

The third parties we use are limited to: our hosting provider, our analytics provider, Google AdSense (for advertising), and the Internet Archive (for audio embeds and downloads). Each of these has its own privacy policy. We do not share or sell visitor data to any other third party.

Children's privacy

ToneVault does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The site does not require an account, and we do not direct content specifically at children. If you believe a child has provided information to us inadvertently, please contact us and we will delete it.

Your rights

If you are in the European Union, the United Kingdom, or California, you have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of any personal information we hold about you. Because we don't operate accounts and only collect minimal request logs, in practice the most we can do is purge IP-based access logs older than what we need for security and abuse prevention. Email us via the contact page with any data request.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of the page reflects the most recent change. Continued use of ToneVault after a policy update constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
