Terms of Service
Last updated: July 2, 2026
By using ToneVault, you agree to the following terms. They're written to be readable, but the legal weight is real — please read them in full before relying on the site.
Use of the site
You may browse, download, and personally use any audio file made available through ToneVault, subject to the license attached to that specific file (see Licensing & Attribution). You may not scrape the catalog at scale, repackage it for resale, or use it to operate a competing ringtone service without prior written permission.
Automated, high-volume downloads are not permitted. We reserve the right to throttle or block IP addresses that show abusive request patterns. If you'd like a bulk export of catalog metadata for a legitimate research or accessibility use case, please contact us first — we're generally happy to help.
Audio files and licenses
ToneVault catalogs audio that is in the public domain or distributed under a Creative Commons license. Every entry links to its original source and license terms. Your obligations as a downloader are determined by the license attached to the specific recording, not by ToneVault's own terms. Some Creative Commons licenses require attribution, some prohibit commercial use, and some require derivative works to share the same license. It's your responsibility to check before reusing audio in a way that goes beyond personal listening.
No warranty
ToneVault is provided “as is.” We make a good-faith effort to verify licensing, audio quality, and metadata accuracy, but we cannot guarantee that every entry is perfectly described, that every download link will remain available indefinitely, or that the site will be reachable at all times. If you spot an error, please tell us; we'll fix it.
Audio embedded from third-party sources (notably the Internet Archive) is served by those third parties. Their availability, fidelity, and continued hosting are outside our control.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, ToneVault and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the site, including but not limited to lost data, missed calls because you installed a ringtone you didn't actually want, hardware damage from speaker overuse, or social embarrassment caused by your phone playing the Inspector Gadget theme during a job interview.
User-submitted content
If you submit a ringtone suggestion or feedback through our contact channels, you grant ToneVault a perpetual, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use that suggestion or feedback to improve the site. Don't submit anything you wouldn't want freely shared.
Termination
We reserve the right to deny access to any user who violates these terms, abuses the service, or interferes with other visitors. We also reserve the right to remove any content from the catalog at any time, for any reason — including in response to a valid takedown request.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising under these terms will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Kings County, New York.
Changes to these terms
We may revise these terms from time to time. Material changes will be noted at the top of this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of ToneVault after a revision constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
